Caring at Christmas

Caring at Christmas was started by four local women (Sara Barhorst, Vickie Edwards, Terri Stark, and Holly Urbanc) in 1994. The project invites residents of Shelby County to make a donation to Wilson Hospice Care in lieu of sending local Christmas cards. An ad then appears in the Sidney Daily News shortly before Christmas listing those who donated.

Wilson Hospice uses the funds to provide services for their hospice patients such as respite time for care givers, additional visits from home health care aids, and other such items for which funding would not be available, allowing them to give extra, loving care to our Shelby County family and friends.

To date Caring at Christmas has donated over $265,000 to Wilson Hospice through the project, with over $25,000 being donated in 2006.

The project runs from November 1 through December 10 each year and donations can be made by making a check payable to Wilson Hospice Care, include your name as you would like it listed in the newspaper, and mailing to: Caring at Christmas, 696 Westover Drive, Sidney, Ohio 45365.
