47 Bar & Grill Annual Poker Run
Kim Pflum and Walt Clark, co-owners of the 47 Bar and Grill in Port Jefferson, established the poker run due to Pflum's experiences with hospice programs that have cared for her loved ones.
"I had two aunts and a cousin who benefited from hospice services in Indiana, and we were all treated so well," Pflum said. "I've lived in Shelby County since 1990, and when we planned this event we wanted the money to go toward a good cause. We thought Wilson's program would be a good recipient here in our own community. And you never know, someday you just might need them."
The annual 47 Bar and Grill Charity Poker Run begins at the 47 Bar and Grill in Port Jefferson and travels to different locations. Past stops have included One More in Piqua, The Oak Tree in Minster, Desperados in Huntsville and The Pines in Quincy. Proceeds benefit Wilson Memorial's Hospice program.
Each year the number of participants increases and for the third annual Poker Run in 2007 there were 219 participants.
