Russia Catholic War Veterans Annual Chicken Dinner
Wilson Hospice Care has served many families in the Russia area for many years including Veteran families. The Veterans and volunteers wanted to show their appreciation for the kind services provided.
A decision was made to donate the proceeds from their October Chicken Fry to Wilson Hospice Care. Over the past 15 years over $9,000 has been donated to Hospice.
For many years, The Russia Catholic War Veterans Post 661 has hosted a Chicken Fry on the 2nd Friday each month beginning at 4:30 p.m. and finished when all dinners are sold out. Dinner includes chicken, potato salad or cole slaw, baked beans, applesauce and a roll. Beverages are also available. During Lent, fish is served instead of chicken.
The fryers are all volunteers that include wives of the members and wives of many deceased members.
