Wilson Foundation Golf Classic Winners Announced
The 13th annual Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation Golf Classic was held July 9 at Shelby Oaks Golf Club in Sidney. The event netted approximately $58,000 which will be used for the Foundation’s endowment fund, benefitting the patients of Wilson Memorial Hospital.
200 golfers played in the event that was corporately sponsored by Advanced Composites, Inc.; Emerson Climate Technologies; Dale Peterson and Associates, Inc.; Kettering Anesthesia, Inc.; Premier Health Care Services, Inc.; NK Parts Industries, Inc., Staples Business Advantage and Embarq. The event attracted a total of 64 sponsors.
The winner of the closest-to-the-pin prize – one week in a villa at the Westin Resort in Hilton Head was Brian Deal with Advanced Composites.
Wells Fargo donated a 4-day, 3-night trip to one of over 450 destinations and 800 resort and hotel properties. The winner of this trip was Steve Booher with UBS Financial Services.
Contest winners included:
- Overall first place winners of the event: The Aultra team - Mike DeBois, Mike Marino, Ken Schranko, and Jeff Barbas.
- Second place included: Craig Ambos, James Johnson, Scott Barhorst, and Jay Purdy from Sidney Community Insurance.
- Third place winners were Bryan Bucklew, Jim Powers, Michael Sanders, and Greg Page from GDAHA – Greater Dayton Hospital Association.
- Fourth place included the Premier Healthcare Services Team consisting of Dr. Bill Cole, Dr. Steve Huffman, Dr. Fred Haussman, and Dr. Kas Oganowski.
Nominal cash prizes were awarded to these winners.
A $1,000 prize for SKINS winners were Mike DeBois, Mike Marino, Ken Schranko, and Jeff Barbas. The sleep study from the Wilson Memorial Hospital Cardiopulmonary Department was awarded to Pete Harsh from E. Lynn App Architects, Inc.
All golfers received various gift items and door prizes. A large raffle of premium, donated items also took place during the event. Donors for those prizes included: Sidney Electric; Wilson Memorial Hospital Occupational Health Services; National City Bank; Emerson Climate Technologies; Buckeye Ford; Lochard’s; Comfort Inn; Sollman Electric; Francis-Schulze; United Collection Bureau; Primary EyeCare; Hansbarger’s; E Lynn App; TNT; Shelby Oaks; Elsass, Wallace Evans and Schnelle; Hampton Inn; Freshway Foods; Cal Jones; Piqua Country Club; Wells Fargo; and Wilson Memorial Hospital Sleep Lab.
123 people who participated in the “Drive for the Chrysler” fundraising event sponsored by Dan Hemm, which raised $615 for the Foundation. 41 volunteers also helped make the event a successful event and enjoyable day.

Wilson's annual golf outing has been going strong since its inception in 1995. It is an exceptional friend and fund raising event with all proceeds used to build the General Endowment Fund for future healthcare needs.
It is well attended by those who not only enjoy an outstanding day of golf and camaraderie, but also want to support Wilson Memorial Hospital. For the past few years 200 golfers and 25 volunteers have participated.
Registration includes: Chance to win proximity prizes, SKINS, Putting Contest, Green Fees, Cart, Raffle Prize, Unlimited Beverages, Lunch and Dinner, and a Door Prize.
